Tears was falling off my cheeks when hubby left. And I do have the tendency to think about the worst stuff. The waiting was killing me and I couldn't sit still to do anything! After what felt like a long time, Angel came home and couldn't wait to update me about what actually happened. She was there when Jovan fell. Jovan was running towards her when he tripped on a skipping rope and fell. He felt pain instantaneously and started crying. Angel tried to comfort him, luckily there were a few teachers there as well and someone went to fetch the school nurse. She came and decided that they have to call for an ambulance. By then hubby has already arrived. Jovan was already panicking then and he calmed down when he saw daddy. Angel was so worried for Jovan she started crying as well. Her teacher had to console her and tried to assure her that Jovan will be taken care of and that he'll be ok. She told me that when one of the teacher helped to carry Jovan to sit on a bench, she saw that the middle part of his lower left leg was sunk in... She almost started crying again when she was telling me this. She said that she could feel the pain in her leg as well... *oooouuuucchhhh*
At that point, nobody knew what was wrong (but I think the teachers could already guess). When the ambulance arrived and the medics were checking his leg, hubby saw that when they moved his left leg, the lower part of the leg could be bent in a very unnatural way. He told me that when he saw that, he realised that his leg was broken and he was filled with so much worry, he thought he was going to throw up. I think I would have fainted if I was there... :'(
They spent the whole day in the A&E department (from 8 something in the morning to 5 plus in the evening!!!). Jovan was in pain for the whole day. They gave him morphine which helped a lot with the pain. Then they had to wait to do xray. The xray showed that both his bones were snapped quite cleanly into 2. So the doctor realigned the bone as straight as he could and put a soft cast (only hard behind the leg and just bandage at the front) and did another xray.
It showed that the bones are about 1 degree off, which is a good sign because then the body can take over to heal properly without any problem. If the misalignment was off more, he would need to do an operation to put in metal parts to realign the bones, which he was reluctant to do because he wanted to avoid any intrusive surgery.
At home, Angel was feeling really sorry for Jovan. She wrote him a card...It says "Jovan I feel sorry for you turn"....
"Many Many Many HUGS"!! ^.^
And she tied the card to Jovan's best buddy...
She also made his bed and added more pillows, big and small, since Jovan will be spending more time in his bed now...
When Jovan finally came home, he looked completely exhausted. He hadn't eaten anything the whole day and the morphine and gas he got in the hospital really drained him.
Daddy asked him what he'd like for dinner and he said pizza. So off daddy went to buy pizza while we stayed home to talk to Jovan a little. He didn't eat any pizza when daddy got home coz he fell asleep.
He had a rough night last night, crying in pain and then later in the early morning, he had gastric pain since he hadn't eaten anything for one whole day. So hubby woke up to give him some pizza and he went back to sleep after that.
He woke up this morning feeling much better. He practised working on the crutches in the morning. But every time when the effect of the painkiller starts to wear off, his pain starts going up.... :(
Angel brought some things back from school to cheer him up. His teacher, together with the rest of the class, made a booklet for him filled with kind words and good wishes.
"We miss you when you're not here"...
Watching him sobbing because it was hurting so bad, makes me feel absolutely helpless and I could feel my tear welling up looking at him suffering. I was staring at the xray pictures this morning, wishing I have super healing power to just fix them back to how they were...
This boy is a real trouper.
Although he has become a little bit of a mommy's boy since he got injured, I'm really happy that he's able to find comfort and security in both hubby and me.
My darling little fighter, healing is going to take some time. You are surrounded by plenty of love from family, friends, classmates and teachers, we will help to make this healing process a little easier to go through!
