After some coffee and saffron buns, the hubbies went down to the basement to start the design of the houses.
And Ulrica and me started a small baking session with the children baking gingerbread cookies.
Little Julian can't wait and was eating pieces of the gingerbread dough! They were so good!
Little baker in action!
The first batch on its way to the oven!While baking, I was running back and forth to check on Chris.
Who kept himself busy walking around, picking up toys and leaving trails of toys everywhere (and some trails of saliva as well!)...When we were almost done with our cookie baking, the guys are finally done with their designing. It took them a long time to come up with a simple design which turned out to be the same design for both.... Wonder what they were really doing in the basement...?
So finally it was their turn to roll out the dough...
And cut out the pieces.
There were some precision cuttings involved...
And then gluing the pieces together with the super hot and dangerous melted sugar.
The children were starting to wonder if this was a children's project or an adult one...
"Didn't daddy say that WE are going to bake the gingerbread house...?"
At last the houses were up! My hubby built a old-fashioned wine cellar next to the house...
And Olof built a "free-style" outdoor toilet... very creative boys... *shake head*
Now it was time to hand the houses over to the little decorators!
Olof... you were suppose to pour the icing into the piping bag, not on Angel's favorite blouse... Good thing there wasn't any damage done! ^.^

Maybe Chris and Oliver has no idea what was happening... but for the rest of us, we really enjoyed ourselves!Hmmm.... maybe we should make this our families' tradition? ^.^
