Öland (Part I) - Camping!

Lars started talking about bring the family to go camping about 2 years ago.  I was strongly against it because Chris was just a baby and Ivan was a toddler then.  I told him that he could go with Jovan and Angel and I would stay home with the small ones but he wanted to experience stuff together as a family, so we shelved the idea till later.

Since this year we weren't planning to go back to Singapore, we decided to go camping instead! After checking around several places (my demand is simple, MUST HAVE TOILETS!!!), we made our decision! Öland here we come!

Öland is the second largest island off the coast of Sweden and is a popular place during the summer.

We went to Ekerums Camping and got a campsite on "Kattfoten" ("Cat Foot") lane no. 15!

We set up our camp and explored the area a little...

There were several playgrounds, a swimming pool, mini golf in the vicinity and not to mention that it was just next to the sea!

Sun set was beautiful!

So what does one do while camping? Well....

You can rent this "Peddle-like-a-bicycle-but-steer-like-a-car" thingy.  After half an hour of peddling, both Jovan and Angel were exhausted!

.... play the guitar and complain to your mother at the same time.... "Do you have to take pictures of me?"

Or you can eat...

.... and blow some bubbles half naked, coz that's what people do on a holiday!

..... or chase bubbles and take 2 seconds to do a cute pose for "photo-crazy" mom...

And then take some time to make silly faces...

... or trying to make silly faces and end up looking super cute...

Fighting with the beach chair is not recommended though...

You can also try playing hide-and-seek.... finding a bigger rock to hide will be a good idea...

Or start a new hobby like cooking....

You can also try to stare at a bee/fly and then pounce on it once it landed, or bark your head off at other dogs.  These activities are only recommended if you are a dog...

Finally you can also sleep as much as you want! Unless you don't mind waking up feeling like your bones are no longer connected and they're all screaming pain at the same time!!! (Huh, what?! What old?!)

This camping experience is different.  Lars said that this is a trial for the real one later, i.e. camping in the middle of no where.

Yeah right.... let's talk about it again after few years!

  1. Seems really fun! I can't imagine camping in hot, humid, mosquito infested Singapore...
